Petrol Bags, part of Vitec Videocom, a
Vitec Group company, unveiled a wide variety of new camera and audio equipment bags at 2012 NAB. That included four new products for audio. The Deca Audio Bag (PS614) is a very lightweight carrier that enables the user to securely transport sound equipment and keep it safe, organized, and accessible while working. Zaxcom Nomad or
Sound Devices SD 788 mixer with a CL8 controller and offers easy access to the SD522 mixer's SD card slot. A spacious main compartment is fully padded to safeguard equipment, and the standard removable internal divider is sized to fit and guard a Zaxcom Nomad mixer/recorder, with an extra divider to accommodate an SD 788 mixer with CL8 controller attached. The exterior front accessories pocket offers a detachable frame that holds up to 6 wireless receivers and transmitters.
Cables can be easily attached via an opening between the central chamber and front pouch. There is free access to all mixer panels -- side, back and top. A transparent top window allows easy viewing of controls. Drawstring openings on both sides also offer full access for connector cables to devices in the bag's front and rear compartments.

The new Portable Digital Recorder Pouch holds the
Zoom H4N,
Tascam DR-100 and DR-40 or similar size portable digital recorders, with a top flap constructed of Transparent Polyurethane (TPU) for maximum visibility while shielding the recorder's front panel and top external microphones. Another lightweight solution is the rugged Deca Wireless Case, which uses an internal honeycomb frame for extra strength and protection when transporting wireless system devices and other gear. Petrol Bags also upgraded the Deca Sound Man Rain Poncho, which covers and protects a user carrying a mixer and fully loaded Petrol Eargonizer bag. The Poncho now features black ripstop nylon and TPU coating for greater elasticity and water protection and also keeps the user cooler and more comfortable.
In the area of products for lighting, Petrol Bags introduced the Liteporter professional carrier designed to transport a
Litepanels 1x1 LED light fixture. With space to hold a Litepanels 1x1 LED fixture (or similar size light), detachable mounting yoke, AC power supply with cord, power cable, an
Anton/Bauer battery, and color/conversion diffusion gels, the Liteporter is constructed of water-resistant black 900D polyester and nylon and a lightweight, semi-hard case with an internal one-piece ABS honeycomb frame for extra strength and protection. The interior features layers of soft padded orange brushed polyester to cushion contents. Twin straps of hook and loop material on either side of the Liteporter anchor the lid open and a zippered flat compartment on the underside of the lid stores color conversion/diffusion gels.
For the DSLR shooter, Petrol Bags came out with its new Rolling DigiSuite DSLR Camera Case, a carry-on size rollaway camera bag with built-in wheel and tote assembly. This case features a central compartment, accessible via a front lid that unzips, that can comfortably fit up to two DSLR cameras with lenses attached. To secure the cameras, the Case also features detachable internal dividers and pockets for storing spare lenses, a mattebox, camera base plate, follow focus, camera light, viewfinder, and cables, all cushioned by soft padded red fabric. On the lid's interior, a removable padded pouch is capable of holding a personal computer with up to a 17" screen, and a smaller, zippered envelope-style mesh pocket can store a camera plate.
The company also introduced two new LCD monitor bags. The Deca 5" Monitor Bag is designed to safely transport auxiliary LCD camera monitors up to 5" in size and features a top flap that opens envelope-style into a four-sided hood for viewing. The Deca 21.5" LCD Monitor Bag is custom designed for a Flanders Scientific LM-2140W or similar size LCD monitor. Both Monitor Bags are ideal for use on location.
With the advent of HDV and DSLR cameras, more people are creating more media. All of them require a rugged solution to transport and protect their gear, and Petrol Bags has just increased the number of options available.
