At NAB 2012, Vinten, part of Vitec Videocom, a Vitec Group company, debuted its Vision blue5 pan and tilt head and tripod system, the newest member of the Vinten Vision blue family. Lightweight at 2.5kg, the Vision blue5 has a carrying capacity range of 12.1-lb to 26.5-lb (5.5kg to 12kg) @ 100mm CofG. According to Vinten Product Manager Peter Harman, the Vision blue5 provides operators "with all the benefits of Vinten's Vision support systems at a premium value." The Vision blue5, which was designed and built in response to feedback from customers around the world, is based on the performances of the Pro-10 and Vision 5AS heads combined with the ease of use of the Vision blue family.
The Vision blue5 provides the combination of continuous counterbalance and infinite drag, for broadcast-quality performance. It provides a full ±90° of smooth tilt movement with a counterbalance range of 5.5 kg to 12 kg (@100mm CofG), which makes it ideal for supporting a range of today's portable digital cameras. The Vision blue5 features an illuminated blue leveling bubble for quick set-up and a 75mm Ball Base.
Another feature is Vinten's continuously variable patented Perfect Balance & LF Drag System. LF drag is an infinitely adjustable friction system combined with a unique lubricant fluid, allowing for fine adjustment of drag levels as well as controlled whip pan at any level of drag.
The Vision blue5 is available as a head only or packaged together with a two stage Pozi-Loc tripod, ground or mid-level spreader and a branded Petrol system case.
Also highlighted at the Vinten booth was a selection of existing systems, including the Vision AS range, Vision 100 and 250, the Vector range including the new Vector 430S, and as well as Studio and OB Pedestals, tripods and accessories.
Vinten is continuing in its tradition of listening to customers as it creates new products to meet their needs. The popular Vinten Vision blue family's new member logically combines the expertise and professionalism of the existing pan and tilt head and tripod systems with the accessibility and ease of use. The fact that it's ideal for today's portable digital cameras makes it a system for the times.
