Confessions of a Teenage Girl
Tim Wilson's bio photo may look like the vague approximation of a man in his early fifties, but he assures us most emphatically that it is the face of a teenage girl -- at least when he thinks about The Vampire Diaries. Look, this is just the way it is when you're a fan. We might try to keep our cool, but really, fans aren't about "cool." They're about passion.

The Joy of Filmmaking
People have been understandably speaking about Martin Scorsese's film "Hugo" as a celebration of the life and films of Georges Méliès, but it is also a tribute to those who LOVE to watch films and even to film preservation.

Steve Jobs - A Personal Calendar Entry
Steve Jobs was almost unbelievably young when we met him. We talk about him as a visionary now, but then, they called him a whiz kid, the Boy Wonder: 21 when Apple was founded in 1976, 22 when Apple formally incorporated, 25 for Apple's IPO, and 26 when he first made the cover of Time Magazine. Macintosh shipped when Steve was 28.

There's Something in the Air
In this 25th Issue of Creative COW Magazine, we've done something that we've never done before, which is to feature individual stories, rather than draw attention to an overall theme. We still have a theme, of course, so please allow Tim Wilson to introduce this issue by its official name: In the Air. We thought about calling it "On the Air," just in time for NAB, but we're doing more than just talk about broadcast. This issue is a look at, not just the changes that are coming to our industry, but also the changes that are already here. Your future may well have shown up already.

Out of the Box Solutions?
"If only problems stayed in boxes," Tim Wilson muses over the "Making It Up Issue" of Creative COW Magazine. He's also okay with a bunch of new problems. Making things up as you go along means that what looks like the end of the road doesn't have to be the end of the story.

Are you sure that this is a good idea?
When we started with Creative COW Magazine, we mostly knew what we didn't want to do: the tutorials and reviews that were the hallmark of other magazines. Why bother? We already had literally thousands of them online. Instead, we made the same choice that had made such a difference online: focus on people. In fact, we've asked over 120 of them to tell us their stories since we started. Most have never written anything for public consumption before, but their expertise and their passion spring off the page.

Divergence
Every now and then, a hype word comes along that actually means something... Divergence is fun for us as media consumers. It’s a nightmare for us as media makers, though. The trick is to embrace the delight consumers find in all this divergence, and to let it soothe the stabbing pain between our eyes as producers. No problem, right? Right.
