A graduate from the Moscow Film Institute (VGIK) with honors in the art of cinematography and photographic engineering, Yuri is most known for his independent film Liquid Sky and film-noir thriller DOA. He also developed and patented the Cinematographers Color Correction Process (3cP), a method of ensuring accurate reproduction of the cinematographer's choices, throughout the post production process. Most recently, with renowned cinematographer Vilmos Zsigmond, ASC (Close Encounters of The Third Kind, The Deer Hunter), Yuri established the Global Cinematography Institute for post-graduate students and experienced filmmakers.
